Joomla CMS

I've mentioned Drupal and wordpress before as being very good CMS's but another very good CMS is Joomla. They claim to be one of the best open source CMS's and I have to agree with them... it is very good.

In fact Joomla won a 2006 CMS award. Joomla is so highly rated by it's users that it received about 16000 votes more than 70 other open source content management systems. Now that is pretty impressive..isn't?

It seems joomla is just winning awards... which is fantastic. Earlier in the year they won the best Linux/open source project awards for 2006. You can read more about joomla and check out a demo before you decide to download it at www.joomla.org

Blog Money

Ok, so you have a domain and you have a web host... and still don't know what to do with it? Well... if you want to start a blog about what ever topic or niche then you should consider installing a blog CMS on your host server.

You should consider something like wordpress it absolutely free and easy to use. With wordpress you will be able to build your own customizable blog and it allows you to be as creative with functionality an formatting as you want to be...

If you want more than a blog and would prefer a website with a few pages and a blog then you should have a look at Drupal. Drupal is also a CMS but offer a lot more functionality with the addition of downloadable modules that you can install as you want or need them... Drupal is also easy to use and allows you to add a forum or blog...

So now that you have an idea of what you wanna blog about and you have your domain you gonna need a web host. I've done a bit of research and found few good hosts but one that stands out from the rest is Yahoo hosting.

Domain Registration

Domain registration is a simple process. You can either register your domain through a hosting company, if they offer domain registration, or you can go directly to a domain registar.

Domains are not expensive but finding a suitable .com domain that's still available can be quite a task. There are other like .net, .info, .co.uk, .org, etc... so if you not satisfied with the available .com domain names, then get a .net or one of the others.

There are also free domain registrars out there, I'm sure a google search will yield a fair amount of results. One to check out though is free domain

Build your own website

Web design isn't that difficult... Especially when there are so many free web site templates out there. I didn't know anything about a web design so I started by going to W3 and learned about HTML and CSS... then I found some open source templates at OSWD What a helpful resource, once you find a template that you like and yo u know the basics of HTML and CSS then you can have your 1st website up in no time.

Good luck with your web design.. it's actually quite easy...

Build Blog Traffic (Cont...)

Ok, so we stopped at "submit your blog and RSS feed to directories". Please have a look at the comments posted, some very useful information (thanks guys). But I'll continue with this post anyway...

Ping The Blog Services... There are a few services that are designed to track and connect blogs. So you send a ping to each service to let them know that your blog has been updated. A useful site to check out http://pingomatic.com

Build links to your blog... You want to get as many links pointing to your blog as possible. So link to your blog from each page on your website (assuming you have one). Trackback to other blogs in your posts. Post as many comments on other blogs with related topics and offer to exchange links with other blogs that got a similar theme.... SO IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO EXCHANGE LINKS PLEASE LET ME KNOW...*S*

Create buzz about your blog posts and topic in the local and online media. Create controversy around your blog... basically do Anything you can think of to promote your blog... people must know about it to visit it...

And capture subscribers by email... it's a popular way to maintain readers... if you build it they may come but if they like it they will stay....

Blogging can be fun, educational and profitable.... I didn't believe it at first.. but I'm now beginning to see the light... it just takes time so keep at it... and check out the links on the top right of this page.... some good information there.

Build blog traffic

Blogs need to be promoted, just like a website, if you want people to know about it and more importantly, visit your blog. I'll take my previous blog title a step further by going into a bit more detail...

Write posts that people will want to read... If you want people to read your post, then your posts should be interesting and they must want to return to read your next post. Try to make you posts convesational, easy to read and encourage comments and interaction. Keep your posts short and stick to one topic per post.

Optimize your posts for search engines... Strive to get your posts listed for keywords of your choice. Make sure that your blog URL contains the primary keywork you want to optimize for. Use your primary kerywords in the title of your post. Use your secondary keywords in the body of your posts and use your keywords in the anchor text of links in the body of your posts.

Submit your blog and RSS feed to directories... Try to submit your blog to directories like yahoo and DMOZ and what ever other blog directories yo can find. The more channels you promote your blog through the greater the chances of getting traffic to your blog. And don't forget about the search engines, submit your blog to search engines as well. The key is promotion promotion promotion... how else will people know that you exist!!

Here are two more ways to get traffic to your site. The first is commenting, if you comment on other blogs... with a link to your own blog... that would help and trackbacks is also a useful way of getting traffic.

Getting traffic to your blog

Ok some input here will be greatly appreciated.... So far it seems the best way is to join forums contribute to the forums and add a link to your blog in your signature. Oh and the forums you join should be related to the topic of your blog..ideally. Make sure it's a popular forum and be sure to contribute to the forum so that you become a regular and people notice you and more importantly, your signature.

Then of course there are more ways... You could do a link exchange with others who have a blog... so your blog has a link to their blog and their blog will have a link to your blog.. see simple... link exchange...

ok, I know that's not exactly a whole lot of information... but we building here people... so stick around.. there Will be an update to this blog....

Easy Money Online?

Ok, so I'm trying the Adsense thing... as you can see i have Ad by Google... but If nobody clicks on the ads..then you don't make any money..it's that simple...is it? Well, as I understand it, that's pretty much the basic of it. The problem with making money with a blog like this one and I imagine the same applies to a website and particularly a niche website.... you need visitors... and more importantly... u need visitors who are going to click on the ads that google is displaying...

Along comes affiliate marketing A.K.A Pay Per Action(PPA). What this means is, you join affiliate programs offered by many online businesses and as their affiliate you place a link on your site or blog to their site. But you only make a percentage of a sale made via the links on your site or blog. As you will notice, I have two affiliates above the google ads, so feel free to check them out and if you are interested in what they have to offer... and you make a purchase via my link to them... then I make a percentage of the sale...easy isn't?...lol.. well not quite.. again the problem is that there Must be a sale to make money... hence Pay Per Action.

You will also notice that I have a few links in the text of my previous posts.... so feel free to check those out as well... they contain some indepth information...

So, now my next challenge it to get traffic.... How do I get more people to visit my blogs thereby increasing my chances of getting clicks on the Google ads and increasing my chances of getting sales to my affiliates...

I've heard and read about blogging for money, so how does that work? Is it possible to ad a "Google AdSense" thingy on this blog site??

Ok, so I know there are many reasons why people blog. Some blog for fun, because they like to chat or share there thoughts or knowledge or experiences... but some people blog to make money. Well, I suppose some blog for a variety of reasons and if they can make money while doing it then that's just a bonus.

There are other ways you can make money online. Like this one, Type at Home!. People are making a killing with these systems. To the point where you don't need to get up early in the morning to go to work... you get to work the hours you choose. It's all quite simple actually.

Then there's the online surveys option. This one is just as easy. Here are some links to places that pay you for you valued opinion. This is Paid Surveys online , all you need to do is join and get paid for your opinion. Then this is Survey Scout they will also pay you for your valued opinion. This is a brand new paid survey site Express Paid Surveys. Depending on the type of survey you take part in, you will get paid 5 - 75 USD for online surveys and 50 - 150 USD to participate in online focus groups. The cool thing about this site is, if you like movies, then they will pay you 4 - 25 USD per hour to preview movie trailers.

So, go ahead give these sites a try, they will make you money. Before you know it, you'll be laughing your way to the bank...

Affiliate Marketing

Ok, so everyone wants to make money online these days and affiliate marketing or affiliate programs seem to be all the hype. Well, it doesn't seem easy though. What am I missing? I've checked out a few online money making opportunities but haven't really tried any of them. It does seem however that Affiliate programs or Affiliate marketing and AdSense and Adwords is the way to go. Eventhough I know you need to spend money to make money I'm too affraid to spend the money. Maybe you have and would like to share your experience? or maybe you would like to try it for yourself. I've only heard stories about people making huge amounts of cash using systems like this DataPro!

I've also heard that "fast cash at home" is quite good. There are so many ways to make money online all you have to do is try it... Fast Cash At Home!
